What you get

  • An independent companion for the Polar H10. Pair the strap once under Network and the app shows your heart rate as you wear it, the session so far, an estimate of what you have burned, and the beat-to-beat numbers behind how rested you are - RMSSD, SDNN, pNN50 and mean RR. Below them your heart rate over time, the interval between beats and a Poincare plot. The strap's own single-lead ECG is there too, off until you turn it on.
  • Choose the sport before you start and the session is read against the zones that sport is normally done in. Every zone is shown in beats per minute rather than a percentage, so you can tell whether you are in it without doing arithmetic first. You press Start and Finish yourself, so a warm-up, the walk to the treadmill and the work itself do not become one undifferentiated hour.
  • Every session goes to the memory card: each beat with the interval that followed it, a summary written to be read rather than imported, and the ECG trace if it was running. Sessions also come off as EDF, which EDFbrowser, MNE-Python and pyEDFlib open directly, and as plain RR intervals, which is what Kubios and other HRV software expect to be handed. Recordings are kept outside the app's own folder, so an update or an uninstall cannot take them with it.
  • Any session on the card plays back on the device at 1x, 5x or 20x, and it wears the profile it was recorded with - so what you watch agrees with what was written on the day, however your own settings have changed since.

Features

  • Live heart rate from the strap, with skin contact and the strap's own battery level beside it.
  • Five training zones worked out from your own maximum pulse, each shown in beats per minute rather than a percentage you have to do sums on.
  • Nine indoor sports, from a walk to boxing, each read against the zones it is normally done in.
  • For rounds and sets, how far your pulse fell in any one minute - the number that rest between efforts is meant to buy.
  • The beat-to-beat numbers behind how rested you are: RMSSD, SDNN, pNN50 and mean RR.
  • Press the question mark on any of them and the device explains what it measures, what moves it and what not to read into it.
  • Heart rate over time, the interval between beats and a Poincare plot, all on one screen at once.
  • The strap's own single-lead ECG at 130 Hz, off until you turn it on because it is the heaviest stream.
  • A sound when you reach your maximum pulse - once, and again only after you have come back down.
  • Every session saved to the memory card: each beat with its interval, a summary you can just read, and the ECG trace if it was running.
  • Play any recorded session back on the device at 1x, 5x or 20x and watch it fill the screen the way it did on the day.
  • Sessions export as EDF for EDFbrowser, MNE-Python and pyEDFlib, and as plain RR intervals for Kubios and other HRV software.
  • A calorie estimate from your age, weight and sex, entered once and kept on the device.
  • Pair once and forget it: the device reconnects to the strap by itself when you put it back on.
  • The home screen tile shows how your last session went, not a heart rate hours out of date.
